Building Better Foot Strength

Our feet form the base for the entire weight of our bodies. Keeping them strong and healthy is critical to any exercise regimen and to any strong physique.

The first step towards keeping feet healthy is to wear good quality shoes. Doing so will help support and cushion the arch, ball and heel of the foot.

To strengthen the foot, spend some time barefoot to really work all the muscles and tendons. Sit on the floor with legs outstretched, and practice pointing and flexing the feet. Standing with feet hip-width apart, press up on the toes and hold before lowering back to the ground. Balance on the balls of the feet on a curb or a step and slowly lower the heels towards the ground, hold and return to start position.

Regular circuits of these and similar stretches will be invaluable for continued foot wellness.
