Sharks Defensive Back Tony Goodman gives back to local youth

Aspire To Inspire

Jacksonville, Florida, – Earlier this week Tony Goodman announced that he will be re-signing and joining The Jacksonville Sharks for the 2020 season. Instead of celebrating at local bars or clubs Mr. Goodman decided to go back to the community he was raised in and give back to the youth.

A Trip back to Lackawanna

Friday morning Tony Goodman got in his car taking the same route he had taken in the past to go to high school, but this time he was the subject matter expert. His arrival point was TDH Academy, there he shared his story with children that range from ages 11-18 and encouraged them not to give up and the importance of education. He also offered to be their mentor, protégé and confidant.

Off the field, Mr. Goodman is the owner of “Graced Hands LLC”, Graced hands specializes in home renovations and makeovers (services including bathroom remodels, floor installations, painting (in and outdoor), home theatre installation, etc). Mr Goodman went on to offer the High School Students at TDH Academy the opportunity to do internships with the company and learn carpentry as a trade.

“”I just wanted to come back and give to my community and what better way to do it than where I was raised the Lackawanna area,”,”  he went on to say “This is something I had on my list to do and I’m glad I could check it off.”

Last year, Goodman recorded two interceptions in the Sharks secondary and shined as one of the best kick returners in the National Arena League. On special teams, Goodman only played in 10 games but still led the entire NAL in kick return yards (427) and in kick return touchdowns (2) while averaging 21.5 yards per attempt.  Prior to joining the Sharks, Goodman played for the Alliance of American Football (AIF) where he was signed by the Arizona Hotshots.

Goodman played college football not too far from the Shark Tank at Edwards Waters College in Jacksonville. During his college career he was an NAIA Preseason All-American. He also played high school football at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville.
