How did you get started in your field or work?
It was my Mother that helped me find Embry Riddle and after achieving a scholarship and earning my BS, I was picked up right out of school and worked in corporate aviation for almost a decade. While at university, I developed a real passion for all things aviation, but particularly, Unmanned Aerial Systems. There really is limitless potential for these amazing machines in all types of industries ranging from farming to real estate and even though back then the FAA and the technology available to the civilian sector wasn’t there yet, I knew the future was bright for this emerging industry. In 2014, as a graduating senior, I was honored to achieve 3rd in the nation for Sales Presentation with PBL-FBLA and I pitched integrated Unmanned Aerial Systems into current business models as a mock consultancy firm. In 2022, I went back to school and am currently completing my Masters in Unmanned Systems. As the future of Logistics will be achieved with drones, I went searching for valuable transportation experience and I found Airspace. While Airspace does not utilize drones yet, we are the bleeding edge of technology in the Time Critical Logistics space.
What’s one thing we should know that makes your company unique?
Airspace is an 8 year old Startup that had a vision to speed up processes, save time for workers, and increase visibility into the supply chain. Our core competency is the same day movement of material or other items and we have automated the entire process from quote to Proof of Delivery. We have 11 patents on our AI routing platform and we are currently one of the only companies in the world where you can get a life-saving heart moving from your phone, in a matter of minutes.
What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in your business?
Something that we continuously work to overcome is change management and getting people on board with embracing the future. As we see more and more companies moving towards advancing technologies and enhanced data capture, there is always a hurdle in helping the staff feel the value in altering their past ways. In this particular industry, which has been relatively stagnant from a technology standpoint for over 30 years, it is very normal to see an 8 page email thread or lots of phone calls to couriers when a warehouse or hospital or other is ready to get a shipment moving. With Airspace, you can quote a counter-to-counter shipment in less than 60 seconds, choose your routing from every available option, dispatch the drivers, and monitor every milestone all the way to delivery….all without ever picking up a phone or sending an email and you can track the drivers within 3 feet of their exact location.
