Short company description:

Starfish Social Club teaches neurodivergent kids and teens how to be socially competent, confident, and connected!

What Is Your Why (Why Are You In Business)?

I straddle the neurodivergent and neurotypical worlds. I’m an excellent translator across the two. Helping my students understand the social world and helping their parents and teachers understand their world is my superpower.

How did you get started in your field or work?

I started as a special education teacher and moved into district-level and administrative roles in special education.

What’s one thing we should know that makes your company unique?

I use non-conformist strategies with my students. I don’t condone compliance, masking, or trying to fit in.

What are your biggest goals in the next 6 to 12 Months for your business?

-To build my online classes to support students all over the US
-To grow my community of licensees who are teaching my curriculum and running their own clubs all over the world

Who do you know that is impacted by Autism and how has that impacted you?

I didn’t get started in this field because of anyone in my personal life. It happened more by accident. I understand autistic brains better than neurotypical brains, and I’m able to understand what my students think and feel, and how to support them in making their way and achieving their social goals.
