What is the biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 2 years?
Finding ways to engage your audience digitally and authentically, as opposed to in person. This has been obviously trending for years, but with this remote first environment we’re in, and with so many things grabbing your attention, it’s more critical than ever.
What is one tip that you would give when it comes to digital marketing?
All digital marketing activities need to be conducted through the lens of a customer experience journey, with ALL touch points. This requires internal organization alignment and consistency. With that, I think it’s more important than ever that brands choose to work with agencies that specialize in digital vs. providing digital as an add-on. It’s far too sophisticated and nuanced now to assume a full-service agency can really exist anymore and provide equal value across the board.
What is something in your career that you learned from by making a mistake?
Working with startups. It is very tempting, and we still do it. While I wouldn’t necessarily call it a mistake, it’s hard to work with startups due to restrictions in budgets, their internal teams and the amount of time they have to succeed.
