On “Ignite Success,” Sherrie Clark welcomes outstanding leaders to this uplifting and interesting show, filled with practical advice and tips for business professionals. This week, Sherrie sits down with Crystal Anlage from the Jacksonville Survivors Foundation and Thom Stimpel from Proactive Business Improvements, LLC.

Short company description:

Crystal: We are a non-profit based in Jacksonville, FL that serves survivors of homicide.

Thom: Business advisory group working with aspiring & novice entrepreneurs to help them assess their ability to succeed in the complex world of business ownership. Also work with established small businesses to improve operations, solve complex problems, capitalize on important opportunities, develop high performance teams, and discover new competitive advantages.

How do you define success?

Crystal: Doing better than the day before! Working towards your goals! In the community I serve, some days even getting out of bed is a win!

Thom: When a tired, frustrated, struggling business owner accepts help to make vital changes, and becomes an enthusiastic, energetic, successful entrepreneur with a thriving business. Or when an aspiring entrepreneur takes the time to research and carefully plan their enterprise, then launches a thriving business that exceeds their expectations.

If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?

Crystal: Love. I want to leave a legacy of love.

Thom: Defeating the epidemic of small business failures in the US.

How has your business changed in the past 12 months?

Crystal: We are only 6 months old, and in that time I have been certified as a designated victims advocate practitioner through the state of Florida, secured a mentorship/internship with Project Cold Case, and office space within their office for Jacksonville Survivors Foundation.

Thom: My focus shifted to being much more involved in the “aspiring entrepreneurs” side of my business. COVID resulted in many people losing their jobs and deciding to try to start their own business. Historically, 97% of them will fail, so I’m working hard to get their attention and provide insights and education that will put them on a different path …. a path to success.

What are your biggest goals in the next 12 Months for your business?

Crystal: To grow and fundraise!

Thom: 1) Finalize a special training program for aspiring entrepreneurs
2) Deliver a TED talk about defeating the epidemic of small business failures in the US
3)Expanding the reach and engagement of my Facebook community, “The Entrepreneurs’ Guild”.
