18Loop is a 501c3 nonprofit company that deploys Virtual Reality (VR) headsets to kids with cancer. We partner with the American Childhood Cancer Organization in 32 states to help our kids tolerate treatment, recover and thrive. 18Loop is. Fast Company 2021 World Changing Idea. We have received funding from Servier.

How do you define success?

18Loop has a standing goal to provide technology to all 16,000 children a year who are diagnosed with cancer. We’ll be successful when they receive the benefits of the tech that include better mood, exercise, reduced pain, collaboration capability and immersive education.


How did you get started in your field or work?

I was in for profit technology for two decades, did a year of Americorps and then decided to start 18Loop.


What’s one thing we should know that makes your company unique?

All donations go to the purchase of technology for our kids. Also, we have such a unique partner network that includes great startups like Tripp, Healium and Cleanbox.


What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome in your business?

18Loop is always looking for better ways to raise money. We continue to work to fundraise in order to fulfill our mission.
