What do you feel are your key personal factors for your success?: Honesty is a very important part of my personal brand. I ensure that I deliver on what I say I will, and others know that I stand by what I say. I think because of this, I have been able to develop close relationships with those that I interact with. My honesty, and ability form meaningful relationships have definitely been two drivers that have gotten me where I am today.

What is the biggest mistake you would tell your younger self to avoid?: Not necessarily a mistake per say, but something for people to be cognizant of is that Perception is Reality – both in the workplace and in life. Make sure you are putting your best face forward.

Do you have a mentor and do you feel it is important to have one?: I have had different female leaders throughout my career that have empowered me to continue growing. I do think its important to have allies both in your respective industry, and even someone outside your industry to mentor and coach you on personal and professional development.

Is there a book you can recommend that would be valuable to read for a woman starting out in business?: One of my all time favorite books is “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” I recommend it to everyone. “People Over Profit” is also an incredible book that prompted me to take steps in my life to find a company that was more in line with my values. And “Raving Fans” is also a great, easy read that discusses the importance of customer service and going the extra mile.

How do you achieve balance between your professional life and personal life?: I am thankful to work for an incredible organization that values that balance above all else. My flexible work environment definitely helps, but I am also a planner. I have to-do lists all over my home office of projects to tackle and goals to overcome – both at work and at home. I have two darling little girls, and the time I have with them is of utmost importance, which is why we try to do something daily – a dance party, a craft project, story time, etc. I think its also important to note that the perfect balance does not really exist. As long as you put one foot in front of the other, and keep your eyes on the few things that matter the most to you, you are doing great.
