Short Company Description:

Along with my “day job” as a Realtor with the Golden Anchor Team with One Sotheby’s International Realty, I am the Chairman of the Veterans Council of Duval County and the Senior Vice Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Dept. of FL, District 6 – NE Florida). The VCDC is a collective of delegates and leaders from the Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) and businesses in Duval County. The Veterans of Foreign Wars is the oldest congressionally chartered VSO in our nation. Alongside other VSOs such as the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans, we advocate for Veterans rights and support our veterans, their families, servicemembers, and even widows of our Veterans.

What is Your Why?:

After retiring from the Navy after 23 years of service, I found a calling to continue to serve. I looked for another way to “continue the mission” and give myself a purpose – advocate for my brothers and sisters in arms and serve them in any way I can. This has led to my volunteering in multiple positions for multiple military and veteran related endeavors; along with the VCDC and VFW, I am also serving on the board of directors of the National POW/MIA Memorial & Museum and the Jacksonville National Cemetery Support Committee as well as the City of Jacksonville Mayoral Transition Team Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.

What’s one thing we should know that makes your company unique?:

We are not only a collective of Veterans Service Organizations; this year we have become a 501c3 not-for-profit/charitable organization. We did this to provide support for Veterans and Servicemembers and their families in need. We have served 18 Veterans since we created that initiative last year. We are also in charge of accepting, processing, reviewing, and making recommendations for grants to Veteran Service Organizations from the money donated to the city to support the Vystar Veterans Memorial Naming Rights Grant.
