What type of business services do you offer? The Missing Child Project is doing something that families of missing children cannot do themselves. We are on a mission to place a sign featuring area missing children in highly trafficked public places and to create a club in every high school in Florida – and then the United States – to aid in the search for missing children.
What role does social media play in your outreach? Historically, we used social media to distribute images of the signs featuring profiles in minor league baseball parks. It was intended for the teams to redistribute to their followers. As we launch the new brand – The Missing Child Project – social media has a greater importance to the mission. There is a rich history to the organization, specific target markets and collaborating with the high school clubs creates new opportunities to reach a broader audience.
What differentiates you from the competition? Founder Dennis Bair, was a former minor league pitcher. In 2016, we became an “Official Charity Partner” with Minor League Baseball to place photos of thousands of our nation’s missing kids in front of literally tens of millions of Americans in stadiums and arenas across the country at no cost to the families. We have recently expanded our program to include high school clubs, with our stadium signs placed in schools and students earning volunteer hours to join the search via social media and in their communities. The new brand creates new opportunities as we are in position to partner with additional professional sports leagues and businesses of any size.
What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year? Getting the word out about the possibilities that the new brand positions us for – professional sports, high school programs, business, grants, individual donors. We are seeking partners, sponsors and donors to fund the mission.
