Our story began in 1891 when Miss Fannie Battle saw a need in the community. Children were left alone to roam the streets while their parents, mostly mothers, went to work, She rented a room in Nashville and began caring for these children by clothing, feeding, educating, and obtaining medical attention.
Today Fannie Battle Day Home continues to provide affordable, high-quality childcare to working Nashville families. We offer tuition on a sliding scale based on income and family size. We work to empower families through programs dedicated to career coaching, financial counseling and planning, educational growth, housing assistance, and health and well-being support.
We provide care to over 90 children five days a week between the ages of six weeks and 12 years. Our center utilizes the Frog Street curriculum, through a many year partnership with United Way of Greater Nashville, that provides quality education essential to creating the building blocks needed for successful and life-long learners. We are a three-star rated facility through the Department of Human Services and have been since its inception in 2001.
70% of our enrollment capability is reserved for families needing extra financial assistance.
We provide healthy meals, which include breakfast, lunch, and snack, through funding from to all of children through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
