I am a native of Jacksonville, a rare breed from what I have been told. Although growing up here my entire life, I always see people I know, sometimes in the most unlikely of places. Graduated Bishop Kenny High School and attended private elementary school as well, I cannot wear plaid to this day
My dream, from age 11 was to have my own business. Mainly because I never wanted to be fired (although in my journey to being an entrepreneur that did happen). Knowing that to be successful running my own business, I would need to learn how to manage and run other people’s businesses. Starting out in bookkeeping, I truly learned a hands-on approach to the financial aspects of business. Adding management skills as time progressed.
2015 set a new course for me and business with the seed of Art You Wear being planted. I always knew when I first started painting in 2002 that my designs would look amazing on clothing, how that was going to happen was given little thought. Then thanks to the internet, I found there are numerous companies who do just that, so I took one of my favorite designs, Rainbow Splat, uploaded it and waited. After a few weeks, my very first “clothing” item was delivered and I just knew that this is my next thing (business). The exploration began as we searched the best options for production and manufacturing. Currently there are two boutiques carrying “Art You Wear” by Pixie, Altona in Palm Beach, Back of the Bay, Naples Florida, Tropical Creations, St. Thomas VI, and Bonita Bay Club, Bonita Springs just to name a few. My vision for “Art You Wear” is worldwide.
In 2002, I began painting on glass for fun. Little did I know, my second passion was on its way to being born. 2004, I began selling Pixieglas™ to friends and family, 2006 I started participating in art shows around Florida and South Georgia areas. 2015 was another benchmark year when I partnered with a company that takes my designs (from painted pieces of Pixieglas™) and puts those designs on clothing, creating Art You Wear, Inc™. While I continue to work with clients in the Healing Art Therapies, Meditation, Energy Therapy, Aromatherapy and more, I am committed to enhancing my own Creative Spirit and those of my clients. My main goal is to continue to grow as an Artist.
In 1986, I received my first massage and my life changed forever. I had found my passion. It took me 3 years receiving massages before I had the courage to quite my day job and take the plunge by going into massage training. In the Fall of 1990, I opened my practice, first in Mandarin for a year then moving to the beaches where I have practiced ever since and never looked back.
Business owner since 1990 when I opened Holistic Massage Therapy, Inc. Over the years, I have taught for St. Vincent’s Wellness Center (6 years), St. Vincent’s Childbirth Education (8 years) Baptist Health (4 yrs), FSCJ (5 yrs) and currently UNF’s LEARN Jacksonville program (since inception 2010); the benefits of Massage Therapy, Meditation, Aromatherapy, Stress Management, Mind/Body Connection, Holistic Wellness and most recently Pixieglas™ Glas Clas™.
The passions in my life include yet are not limited to, mentoring women & girls (Generation W and It’s Her Business), inspiring creativity, assisting others in their journey through life and its many transitions, being grateful daily, having fun, loving family and friends, meditating, reading and daily walks at the beach.
Married to Rob Russakoff 21 years and counting, live in Neptune Beach, FL with three kitties, Bugsie Malona aka BooBoo, Rocket and Rascal.
