What do you feel are your key personal factors for your success?: Utilizing my vast experience in leadership roles from the military, organizational skills from administrative roles, patience from being a mom and persevering as a woman in a paternalistic society. I am currently excelling by teaming with incredible women leaders in our community and always tapping into my creative side as an artist.

What is the biggest mistake you would tell your younger self to avoid?: Listening to people who try to limit or define me.

Do you have a mentor and do you feel it is important to have one?: YES! I have had many mentors in my life and most often they didn’t even know they were my mentors. We must always look for wisdom and experiences of other to prevent making mistakes that will slow us down.

Is there a book you can recommend that would be valuable to read for a woman starting out in business?: There are many out there but I have learned a lot from The Road Less Traveled, Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and Becoming by Michele Obama.

How do you achieve balance between your professional life and personal life?: It is not easy but as I have gotten older I have tried to carve out more time for my personal care and needs. If I am balanced I can offer more to my family and my work.
