Restaurant is offering a free 8pc sushi roll with online orders of $10 or more on June 18th
(Jacksonville, FL): BENTO Asian Kitchen + Sushi, a quick-casual pan-Asian restaurant, is rolling out a deal for a free sushi roll in celebration of International Sushi Day on Thursday, June 18th, 2020.
Guests can enjoy a free 8pc Spicy Tuna, Mex Roll, or Cucumber Avocado Roll with a $10 online order on Thursday, June 18th, at all 16 BENTO locations across the Sunshine State.
“We had an overwhelming turnout for International Sushi Day last year with over 4,000 sushi rolls given away in 4 hours. We wanted to continue the tradition this year, but still keep everyone safe and socially distant. The launch of our new online ordering site is making all of this possible” said BENTO Co-Founder, Johnny Tung.
The launch of BENTO’s new company-wide online ordering site is indeed making social distancing a whole lot easier. The new ordering platform allows users to skip the line, schedule an order in advance for pickup or delivery, and pay with just a few clicks. Users also have the option to save their favorite orders. The mobile app version is soon to follow.
To redeem a free roll on International Sushi Day, guests must place a $10 online order at Order.EatatBento.com using discount code SUSHIDAY at checkout. The offer will be valid all day on Thursday, June 18th for registered users. All 16 BENTO locations across Florida will be participating including Orlando, Gainesville, Jacksonville, South Florida, Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Kissimmee, Winter Park, and Bento’s newest store in Oviedo.

About BENTO: With the intent to venture beyond the traditional neighborhood Chinese restaurant, brothers Jimmy and Johnny Tung founded BENTO Asian Kitchen + Sushi in the summer of 2002.
BENTO was inspired by the Tung Brothers’ travels to Asia coupled with their background experience in Chinese Wok cooking – a technique learned from their father while growing up in the family’s restaurant business.
The concept’s namesake is derived from the Japanese lunchbox – a single meal composed of several distinct compartments. A family-rooted business in its essence, BENTO would be built around this idea with each member of the Tung family bringing a different element to the table. Steve, their father, led the way with kitchen recipes, Jimmy ushered in sushi, Johnny drove the operations, Mama Tung brought the boba tea, and sister, Johanna, guided the hospitality and customer service.
With influences from Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Thailand, the menu became a melting pot of well-embraced Asian eats along with lesser-known recipes. The concept blurs the line between old and new-school Asian, and its diverse menu made it a one-stop shop for Asian fare.
The current menu features a lineup of wok-seared dishes, fresh-rolled sushi, build-your-own poke bowls, rice and noodle bowls, bento boxes, boba tea, and Asian beer and sake.
A few highly-addictive dishes that have made their way into the hearts of Bento fans are the Curry Katsu Chicken, Surf n Turf Poke Bowl, Sriracha Garlic Shrimp, Szechuan Noodle Soup, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Pao Pao Chicken. For those seeking plant-based options, BENTO provides the option to swap out proteins for hand-cut veggies or crispy tofu in most kitchen entrees, customizable poke bowls, and the Yasai Bowl and Zen Garden roll, which debuted earlier this year.
The spirit of Asia has not only inspired the dishes, but is also reflected in the design. From the bamboo chandeliers at BENTO Kissimmee to the calligraphy walls in St. Pete and Tallahassee to the koi fish tiled archway at an upcoming location (sneak peek coming soon), each BENTO houses elements unique to its location. Led by Justin Fong of Orlando-based GDP Design, each new BENTO location is thoughtfully designed to exude a sleek, urban vibe, but no two stores are the same.
What began as a 2,000 square-foot, 40-seat eatery in the small town of Gainesville, Florida has since expanded in the last 17 years to Orlando, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, and South Florida. Seven more locations are expected to open up within the next year including the first ever Tampa locations as well as ones in Lake Nona, Wellington, Jacksonville Beach, Dania Beach, and Sarasota.
Today, there are 16 locations across the Sunshine State, and a team of over 800 individuals that comprise the Bento team. With many members of the leadership team still around since BENTO’s early days in Gainesville, what started nearly 20 years ago as a family-owned and operated business is still one to this day — with good food and good people at its core.
